A severe, recurring, and throbbing headache, usually accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and extreme sensitivity to light and sound, is called a migraine. It generally affects only one side of the head. Hormonal changes, stress, depression, anxiety, insufficient sleep, dehydration, and strong smells can trigger a migraine.
