Medical Conditions - Esophagitis

Irritation of the esophageal lining due to pain medications, vomiting, acid reflux, autoimmune eosinophilic esophagitis, radiotherapy, alcoholism, smoking, microbial infection of the food pipe, etc., cause swelling and inflammation of the food pipe leading to esophagitis. It presents with heartburn, painful swallow, and sore throat. Stopping medications that irritate the esophagus, taking medicines for infection, diet modifications, limiting alcohol and tobacco use, maintaining an appropriate gap between food, drug, sleep, etc., help treat it.
