Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 22 years old, and I weigh 93 pounds. I had a diet all year long of about 1200 calories to 1300 calories a day, and I exercised daily, burning 2000 calories. I have been dieting for the past eight years now. So I decided to work out still and eat all the foods I did not eat before, such as chocolate cinnamon rolls and donuts, for one month on the occasion of my birthday. But I have retained a crazy amount of water by eating these things. It could be because of my hunger from starving myself before. But it is not. And I have put on so much water weight that it is hard to reduce. Also, I was taking iron pills as my iron levels were low. What are your suggestions?

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

Sometimes binge eating is fine since you are dieting and exercising. It is not an issue for you to go back to the same schedule, but I suggest you learn to manage and follow a few steps to help you maintain weight. Give yourself a treat monthly once, and do not worry about calories. Enjoy eating. If you are going for a buffet, select a platter to fill a half plate with fiber, a quarter with protein, and the remaining with carbohydrates, one portion for a dessert.

Prepare yourself for this type of cheating diet. The previous day, plan to eat fruits or vegetables before giving yourself a party. And the next day, work out vigorously. Prefer light food for one whole day or maybe only with fruit salads and milkshakes. Increase your fluid intake with diuretics like carrot, cucumber, tender coconut water, and barley water. The last but important tip is never to eat alone. Indulge with friends, share, and eat.

I hope this has helped you out.

Take care.
