When torsion occurs on one side, is the likelihood of torsion occurring on the other side increased as well?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

When I was 15 years old, I experienced testicular torsion, which resulted in the removal of my right testicle. Now I would like to know whether I might be disqualified during the medical examination for the civil service exams. I am aware that I might not pass the medical examination for defense services. Could you please provide me with the accurate information? I am currently 22 years old.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. It is worth noting that when torsion occurs on one side, the likelihood of torsion happening on the other side also increases. I would like to inquire whether the opposite side testis was surgically fixed during your previous surgery. Having this information would enable me to provide you with more accurate guidance.

Thank you.
