Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 50-year-old female who has been smoking for ten years and have made several attempts to quit and failed. I would like to know the answers to the following questions.

  1. What are the immediate and long-term health risks associated with smoking, and how does quitting smoking benefit one's health?
  2. Could you recommend effective smoking cessation strategies?
  3. What are some common challenges people face when trying to quit smoking, and how can I overcome these challenges?
  4. Are there any specific triggers or situations that I should be aware of that might lead to smoking relapse, and how can I develop coping strategies to address them?
  5. What are the health benefits and improvements I can expect to see in both the short-term and long-term after quitting smoking?

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

There are many long term health risks associated with ten years of smoking like COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder), myocardial ischemia, strokes and so on. 1) All the blood vessels (both arteries and veins) become dilated instead of shrinking which prevents attack and stroke upon quitting smoking. 2) Quitting smoking needs a strong mental make-up and stubbornness. Availability of smoking agents should be stopped first. 3) The entire problem is due to nicotine withdrawal leading to cravings of smoking. 4) Take a tablet of Nicotex (Nicotine).

Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them and take the medications with their consent.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
