Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am getting a very sharp soreness in my calf, shin, and the muscles that are based all around the shin bone. Whenever I press the sides of my shin bone it feels very sore and bruised. It only occurs when I run as I play lots of football and I thought it was just muscle pull but I stretch very frequently and the pain will keep coming back.
Can you help?
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I read your query and understand your concern.
I have reviewed your question. I am sorry you are experiencing pain around your shin bone.
Based on the way you are describing your pain and based on your age, it sounds as though you may be experiencing shin splints. In the short term, I would recommend using ice for the discomfort until you can have it professionally looked at. You only want to ice for 15 minutes on, and 45 minutes off.
I recommend that you go to a local chiropractor for treatment and proper care. He or she may want to order an X-ray or other diagnostic test to confirm their diagnosis but I would suspect that they will recommend a trial of care to see how you respond to care. I hope I have cleared all your doubts.
I hope that you get your answer.
Please let me know if you need any help.
Thank you.
