Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I was diagnosed with scrub typhus last week and started antibiotics. My fever has gone down, but my lymph nodes are still swollen, and I feel very tired. Is this normal during recovery, or should I be concerned about complications? I have also noticed mild chest discomfort could this mean my organs are affected? My doctor mentioned possible complications like myocarditis or kidney damage, and now I am worrying about every symptom. Should I ask for more tests, or is this just the fatigue after the infection?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
It is normal to experience mild symptoms for up to two weeks after an infection like scrub typhus. The swollen lymph nodes are a sign that your body is actively fighting the infection, so it is not unusual for them to stay swollen for a while as they do their job. Fatigue is also common with this condition, so eating nutritious food is important to support your recovery. I would recommend taking a multivitamin, which should be easy to find, to help boost your energy levels.
Try not to worry too much about complications like myocarditis or kidney damage; just focus on staying hydrated, resting, and eating well. However, if you notice more severe symptoms like mental confusion, fogginess, intense abdominal pain, or a drop in blood pressure over time, it is a good idea to contact your doctor. If your symptoms persist after 15 to 20 days, it is also worth following up with your doctor. Remember, the body needs time to recover, and this process can take a while. For your treatment plan, take one tab. Nurokind Gold (multivitamin and minerals) is taken once a day after eating for 15 days. Try drinking fresh turmeric and ginger decoction-like tea for a few days, as it can help reduce inflammation in your body.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
