HomeAnswersSexologypregnancyI touched my private part with precum on my hands. Will it cause pregnancy?

What are the odds of getting pregnant from coming in contact with the precum?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had precum on my hands, then washed them, and after that, I touched the skin in my private part while changing clothes. Am I pregnant because I missed my period? I do not have symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or anything else.

Kindly reply.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Pregnancy cannot happen this way, and pregnancy can only happen if precum (pre-ejaculate) or semen is released inside the vagina. You can get a urine pregnancy test (UPT-Urine pregnancy test) done from the first day of a missed period. If you do not know when your next period is due, then do the test at least ten days after you have unprotected sex.

Causes of delayed or missed menses include pregnancy, stress, sudden weight loss, excessive exercise, contraceptive pills, PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), endometriosis, and hormonal imbalance during sexual activity. Wait for periods to happen. If they do not happen and it has been more than ten days, then go for a urine pregnancy test. If it comes negative, go for a beta hCG test (A quantitative human chorionic gonadotropin test), and then visit a gynecologist for a detailed evaluation.

Avoid premarital and extramarital sex as it carries a high risk of sexually transmitted diseases, even if a condom or any other protection is used.

Thank you.
