Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I sustained a patella fracture two months ago and am currently undergoing physiotherapy treatment. I have attached the reports. Please review them and advise me on what steps I should take next.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I have reviewed the attached reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). However, I recommend that you consult an orthopedic surgeon in person, as a minor arthroscopy may be required due to a partial tear. An arthroscopy (a procedure for diagnosing and treating joint problems) is advised if you have undergone physiotherapy for more than six weeks with little or no improvement.
If you do proceed with arthroscopy or surgery, expect the fracture to heal completely within six to eight weeks. After that period, low-level ultrasound treatment or PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field) therapy can aid in the fracture's repair. Additionally, stretching and strengthening exercises should be performed every two to three hours, depending on your progress.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
