Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 29-year-old male with a weight of 114.6 lbs and a height of five feet eight inches. After moving heavy furniture last night, I got a sprain in my neck. I have a stinging pain on the left side of the neck. My pain is present at the connecting point of the head to the left shoulder. I am not able to move my neck even to a slight angle as it hurts a lot. I have more difficulty while facing up or down when compared to moving my head to the right or left. I have not taken any medicines. I am taking multivitamins alone. I do not have any health conditions and other allergies.

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You got a sprain in the neck or shoulder muscles. Having a sprain after pulling heavy objects is a common problem. There is a development of swelling in that particular area with muscle spasms. Neck movements will be painful and restricted definitely. Apply icepack on the painful site to reduce pain and inflammation. Try to give rest followed by avoiding jerky movements and lifting anything. At the same time, do not keep your neck stiff. Keep moving your neck within range to avoid having increased muscle stiffness or spasms. Follow this routine for a week. After having some relief, start with gradual neck movements. Kindly avoid lifting heavy furniture in the future as it can damage the disc in the vertebra.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
