Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have recently visited a chiropractor, and he said I have misalignments and fake leg discrepancies due to probated feet from birth. He told me to stand in a position that my right leg would push down on the ground and told me to deliberately elevate my left leg so I have a high hip (basically standing on one leg). He measured my height and then did the same when I was normally standing with both legs on the ground. I was significantly taller when standing in the one-leg pose with an elevated hip. He was not willing to explain why and just told me to get flat foot insoles and did not adjust me at all. He seems really sketchy to me, but I still cannot explain how I was taller in that pose. Perhaps I do have a leg discrepancy?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. In my opinion, the tallness you had while standing on a single leg may be due to the adjustment you had in the alignment of your body. While in your case, your feet are rolled internally, leading to roaring your hip and reducing the height. When you stand tall, your feet should be properly aligned. If the same is rolled inside with a collapsible arch few millimeters to centimeters can get compensated. This thing will get realigned when you support your foot with a suitable orthosis. Good spinal alignment is also needed for a proper analysis of your issue. You need to work on strength and stability to get back your alignment and stability, and balance. Hope I have answered your query. Kindly revert back to me in case you need any further information and help in this regard. Thanks and regards.
