Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My husband takes lots of supplements, and he also takes L-arginine on an empty stomach. Will that affect him in the long run? He uses dietary supplements for his health. Is it okay to take L-arginine without food? He also takes vitamin pills regularly. His diet is usually good, but he adds multivitamins to it. Is it safe to take vitamin D supplements daily? Should he change his diet instead of taking pills? I am worried about his long-term health effects. Is it normal to take so many dietary supplements? What should he do to stay healthy?
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for posting your query.
I can understand your concern.
L-arginine and Proanthocyanidin are nutritional supplements used to treat deficiencies. L-arginine, a naturally occurring compound, supports immune health, growth, and development. It is also used for conditions like angina, peripheral arterial disease, erectile dysfunction, high blood pressure, and pre-eclampsia.
Doses of 0.07 ounces to 0.31 ounces daily are safe and best absorbed on an empty stomach. Taking L-arginine before bed can enhance recovery and muscle growth by increasing growth hormone levels.
L-arginine is generally safe for oral or topical use but may cause nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and bloating. While moderate doses are safe, excessive amounts can cause severe side effects. It is important to understand potential interactions with other medications. L-Arginine is well tolerated when taken daily for long periods, even over a year.
Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.
I hope I could be of help.
Take care.
Thank you.
