Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I want to get an opinion if I have warts on my penis. I have some raised bumps on the shaft and sides. Please help.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Can you share a picture with a better focus? The image you have sent is hazy (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). It looks like tiny round bumps (like small comedones). It is more likely to be Fordyce spots rather than warts. But I need pictures with better focus.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

I am sending a picture with a better focus of the shaft.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

These are not warts (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). Instead, they are fordyce spots, little enlarged oil-producing glands (sebaceous glands). If they are not troubling you, you can leave them alone. No treatment is required. However, if you want to remove them for cosmetic reasons, you must go to a clinic and get laser or radiofrequency (RF) or electrodesiccation and curettage (EC) done.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

I received oral sex from a lady who has had cervical cancer in the past but cleared. Can the HPV still be in her mouth and passed onto my penis after these years?

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

If she had human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in any form in the vaginal area, it does not need to also be there in the oral cavity. This can be confirmed only with an examination. If she has an oral HPV infection, it is possible to transmit the disease from mouth to genitalia by oral sex.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

Is it normal for HPV to stay for several years in the oral cavity? I only had oral sex once with her, two years ago. I think my chances for transmission would be low, considering she was treated for cervical cancer a while ago.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

If there are no human papillomavirus (HPV) lesions in the mouth, you cannot acquire it. It does not survive for years. The incubation lasts one to nine months. If she has been treated and has no lesions, she will be free from HPV.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.
