Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I fell 12 days ago, fracturing my left wrist and pubis ramus. The pelvic fracture was not confirmed for three days after the first x-ray on the day of the fall. After that, I returned because I could not bear the weight without assistance. I have had to get up with just the right crutch to get around indoors, which has helped to take some weight. I prefer not to take pain relievers. Weight-bearing areas have been a little sore, but there has been no pain while sitting or lying down. But even when lying down, my pelvis is sore all the time.
I had to do some work yesterday because I worked from home and sat in my office chair for about 5 hours. The area around the fracture feels hot and achy today. There was only one fracture. There is no displacement. Do you think the sitting yesterday aggravated it because I usually sit on a softer seat? Is it necessary for me to consult anyone? The hospital gave me a 6-month open appointment. I tried calling them but could not get through.
Kindly suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
The fracture pain was exacerbated by your sitting position, which may have loaded the muscle and stressed the fractured site. Do not panic. I recommend that you ice that area to relieve pain.
Take good support and avoid stressing that area. You can have good back support for your back and avoid putting too much weight on the injured site. You can use an abdominal binder to support yourself if you need to sit for an extended period. You can also reduce stress by using a cushioned seat.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at icliniq.
Thank you.
