Could far-sightedness cause blindness in the long run?

Hello doctor,

I am a 43-year-old man who found out about my far-sightedness five years ago. Lately, I have been a bit worried. Can far-sightedness cause blindness in the long run? I have heard different things, and I am not sure what to believe. On top of that, I also have high blood pressure. Could that affect my eyes and make my far-sightedness worse? I just want to make sure I understand how these things might affect my vision. Please help.

I suppose you have presbyopia which is a condition in which a person near 40 years of age needs power glasses for near tasks. This is a normal condition and it is an aging process. This will not make you blind. High blood pressure can affect your vision by affecting your retina or optic nerve blood vessels but usually does not affect your near vision.
