Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 65 years old and weigh 75 kilograms; my height is 172 centimeters. Recently I read an article about dietary fiber and have a few questions about it.
1) Do you think dietary fiber should be included in my diet even after being all healthy without taking it?
2) If I have to take it, how much and when should I take it?
3) Are there any supplements I can take?
4) What happens if I take too much dietary fiber?
5) Which are the food that is high in dietary fiber?
Thanks and regards.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Dietary fiber is not anything that you need to take separately. Whatever you eat, if it is not artificially processed, it contains a sufficient amount of fiber. These are of two types soluble and insoluble. They help maintain good health so eat seasonal fruits and vegetables as they have plenty of fiber. Eat whole pulses, legumes, and grains that are less processed. Soak and sprout the grains. Do not eat a refined version of them; you will get a perfect amount of fiber.
