Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a low mood, excessive tiredness, forgetfulness, a change in appetite, and weight gain. This has started for nine months. I feel mentally tired. It is not physical tiredness. I do not feel anything. And I feel no more connected to people and past memories. I am also having lots of suicidal thoughts. I am not able to express to anyone what is happening to me. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

These symptoms suggest that probably you have depression. Considering the suicidal thoughts, it is more severe in intensity. So, consult a psychiatrist in person for detailed evaluation and investigation to find the cause because these can be due to hypothyroidism, anemia, vitamin D, or B12 deficiency as well. So please get an appointment with a psychiatrist for person assessment as soon as possible because you are having suicidal thoughts multiple times. This will help you to get out of your suffering. It is a treatable condition and there is good medicine available for such symptoms, so do not waste time.

Thank you.

Investigations to be done

Thyroid function test, routine blood investigation, blood sugar, vitamin D and B12 level, and brain imaging study if required or as your psychiatrist ask.

Preventive measures

Take adequate sleep, do regular exercise, and talk with your family member about how you are feeling.
