Hello doctor,

I have been seeing a physiotherapist for 10 sessions now, and during the sessions, I have been doing exercises and getting needling in around, and undead left shoulder blade to try to relieve the pain, but it still feels bruised under it. I have had some massages previously, which reduces the pain temporarily, but the pain comes back. I was wondering if a chiropractor could help as maybe something needs an alignment?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As with history, I can speculate that you are having trapezius. The pain around the shoulder blade is due to the inflammation of the insertion of the trapezius muscles. As per my clinical practice, I do not think that dry needling and massage are the more extended-term relief. I will advise that you should do hot water fermentation over the upper back and neck region. Post that, myofascial release, correction of the posture, and strengthening of the trapezius muscles.

This issue is commonly arising due to bad posture and the cervical spine IVDP (intervertebral disc prolapse). But for the cervical spine IVDP we need an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) to understand the nature of the soft tissue injury. I understand that doing hot water fermentation, myofascial release, correction of posture, and trapezius strengthening has helped my patient relief of the pain. I request you to look for one and let us see after a week. I assume things should get correct soon with the mentioned treatment plan.

Regarding the chiropractor, I do not think it is needed for now so soon. If you have any more queries, please feel free to contact me.
