Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a growth in my throat that is making it harder to swallow. My general physician thinks its a tonsil stone but I would like a second opinion.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It looks like there is a small tonsilar cyst on your left tonsil. It is nothing to be worried about, it is not a tumor or cancer but your complaint is on the right side, is it? Does it pain while swallowing? Since how many days are the complaints present? Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

There is no pain, but a noticeable narrowing and more difficulty swallowing. It feels like often that dangling thing in the middle sort of sticks to the right side. I would rather like to have that lump out. Is it advisable or possible to remove the cyst or stone?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The dangling thing in the middle is known as the uvula, it is present in everyone, and it helps in the closure of your oropharynx. In your case, it looks a bit elongated although it is not pathological or something to be worried about. If the trouble causing you is too much you can definitely undergo a trimming procedure of the uvula called uvuloplasty. But the tonsilar cyst as I told is a frequent finding in most people you can always undergo a tonsillectomy, that is the whole tonsil will be removed, and only the cyst in the tonsil alone cant be removed. There is no harm in removing the entire tonsil. So you can undergo tonsillectomy but I feel you would not be benefited much. Is there anything further that I may help you with? Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
