Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My concern is about my missing periods. I had intercourse with my partner using protection, and that too, just after my period ended. But we did not risk it, so I took a I-pill just after a day. But after ten days, I noticed some brown discharge like it had been there for two days, and it stopped. It was not period but something brown discharge. The problem is that I should have got my period on this, but it is missing; I did not get any. What should I do now? And what does that mean?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

After consuming, I-pill (Levonorgestrel), after a day of protected intercourse, you had to get a light brown discharge after ten days of taking I-pill, so that could be withdrawal bleeding. Since the period needed to come, still, it has not come. That could be due to taking the emergency contraceptive pill. So your period could be delayed. Please wait for a week or ten days. Then, you might get your period.

Pregnancy is less likely, as you had protected sex followed by taking an emergency contraceptive pill. As of now, nothing needs to be done. You need to wait. As you had already taken all precautions.

After ten days, if you do not get a period, do a urine pregnancy test. Although it will come negative, you will be relaxed.

I hope you find it helpful.

Kind regards.
