Can lack of vitamins and minerals cause body pain and mood swings?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am having constant bone pain, muscle pain, and mood swings. I feel like I am lacking some vitamins or nutrients. I have tested for several illnesses, but nothing was ruled out. How do I find if I lack some vitamins or minerals? What blood work should I undergo? What is your diagnosis based on my symptoms? Kindly suggest me your opinion.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for contacting us. I went through your query, and I feel you are not providing essential proteins and vitamins to your body that are required to meet your daily nutrient requirement. Maybe because of that, you are having muscle pain and bone pain. Therefore, I suggest you to check your calcium levels along with your hemoglobin levels and also do vitamin D and vitamin B12 tests. For now, these tests would be enough to find out the cause and send me the results. After that, I will evaluate and suggest you a diet plan.

Thank you and take care.
