Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My weight is 65 kg, and my height is 1.6 m. Although my BMI 25.4 is in the margin of normalcy, I have got belly fats. So, I am working out from the past two weeks, and changes are quite unnoticeable. I was wondering, do I really need to lose my weight to lose belly fat or it can happen with the same BMI? Because my calorie intake depends on whether I have to maintain or lose weight. Even, I have decided to take up some supplements. But it has to be a mass gainer or a whey protein, I am quite unsure of it. So, I want to know whether I need to lose my weight or belly fat can be lost with the same weight and indeed keeping the same calorie intake, rather than reducing it from 2000 calories to 1480 calories? Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
According to WHO (World Health Organisation) a revised BMI (body mass index) for normal is 19-22. You need to work out and lose weight to reduce belly fat, as fat accumulated is of adipose tissue work out is necessary. You can take supplements of whey protein along with the same supplements. You can concentrate on both weight reduction, belly fat reduction, and improve muscle mass. In the market, there are supplements with soya or isolate soya. According to your age, you need to continue with 1800 kcal per day. Do not reduce the intake less than this.
You can divide your meals into a 6-7 meal pattern. Increase the intake of fluid and fiber content and meditate to manage stress.
