Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am experiencing lower back pain. It is hard to sit up and to stand or to do any rotating motions. There is also pain with curving my back. I have tried a massage bed and using tennis balls and a foam roller to stretch out the lower back but that is not helping.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through history. It appears to me as a sacroiliac joint dysfunction. As it has occurred in the past and resolved, it should not be a big issue this time also. In sacroiliac joint dysfunction, there is a malpositioning of the sacrum and the iliac crest which can lead to sharp shooting pain which is non-radiating or tingling in nature.

Maybe you have too much muscle spasm. You can use hot water fomentation and try to lie on your back and tuck the stomach in for 30 seconds, keep repeating this for 10 times with a pause of 30 seconds in between. By 2 to 3 days of time, you should perform well. Post this, you have to start working out for your core and hip muscle strengthening to be precise the gluteus muscles.

The Probable causes

Muscle weakness.

Investigations to be done

Nothing required.

Differential diagnosis

DDD.

Probable diagnosis

Muscle spasm with SIJ dysfunction.

Treatment plan

Hot water fomentation with exercise.

Preventive measures

Do not try to bend forward or lift heavy object till pain subsides.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
