Is there a way to treat burning back pain on shoulder blade area?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been recently suffering from extreme burning back pain in my shoulder blade area. For a few months, I have had this strange clicking feeling in my neck, on the same side where my shoulder blade pain is happening. Not a normal joint crack, it felt weird, and bothersome. It was infrequent, but now, the weird clicking happens almost every day. A few months before I was vitamin D deficient but am taking supplements. Maybe the deficiency contributed to this? I am wondering if it could be my neck or if they are just knots from stress, but I have never had this bad of a burning sensation before. What I could do? Is this common?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As you have a burning sensation and unlocking sound in the cervical spine, it could be related to nerve entrapment. I will advise you to take a neck collar and do hot water fermentation for a week post which you can update me on so we can plan the exercise for strengthening the muscle. Meantime, please take an MRI of the cervical spine. It is common in cervical spine degenerative changes that people tend to have nerve entrapment and with conservative management, they respond well. Waiting for your reports.
