What could cause apathy and loss of interest in life?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have no idea how I have become so apathetic. I am very cold-blooded in many situations, and I have been like this for about the last three years. The last time I cried was four years ago. I think I was unable to express my feelings and waiting for someone to listen to me.

I take everything lightly. I am unable to feel any emotion or interest in anything (literally, even in girls). I just feel like a brain-dead person. I hope you can help me, sir. I am not taking any medications. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Thank you for taking help from a psychiatrist. It seems that you do not have any problem. I think that you do not want to take any responsibility, so you stay away from everything. You are not strong enough to do anything, and that is why you take everything lightly. Move out of your comfort zone and do something new. Make goals and achieve them. Try to feel the emotions of other people. Spend quality time with family and friends. Stay away from social media. Talk with people aged above 60 years and play with children below three years old. Life is to live and feel. Do something new daily. Play or learn new musical instruments or play outdoor sports. Do meditation and exercise. Read good books, and write down your thoughts. I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
