Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I was recently playing badminton with my friends. I was stepping for a back shot when my partner and I collided, and I twisted my ankle. There was severe pain, and walking was difficult. I treated it with ice twice daily since I had a tournament at the end of the week. I also put on a crape bandage for support. After my tournament, I switched to occasional icing, applying ointments with crape bandages, etc. Now there is not a lot of pain, but the swelling has not gone. My ankle joint still bulges out. I had got an x-ray done, and there is no fracture. It has been two months, but my ankle is still not okay. There is still swelling and a little bit of pain. What should I do to fix this problem completely?
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
You would have sustained a grade 2 ankle injury, and you might need professional help to reduce swelling and pain, which is still persistent. I suggest you continue icing and crepe bandage and have anti-inflammatory medications. Gentle massage over calf muscles will help reduce swelling.
Hope this is helpful to you.
