Psoriatic arthritis is a type of inflammatory arthritis that affects certain individuals affected by the skin disease psoriasis. Psoriasis is a skin disorder that causes red, itchy, and scaly spots on the skin. Joint pain, stiffness, and swelling are common symptoms of psoriatic arthritis. Morning stiffness is also a common symptom. Three out of every ten patients with psoriasis may be affected by this disorder.
