Nightshade vegetables are vegetables that contain a small amount of alkaloids. Some examples of nightshade vegetables are tomatoes, eggplant, potatoes, peppers, tobacco, etc. These vegetables contain an alkaloid named solanine which is toxic in higher concentrations. The amount of solanine in these vegetables are less; hence having a small amount of these vegetables does not affect health.
