An immune reaction that is triggered by consuming a particular food is called food allergy. Eating even a small amount of that food item can result in symptoms and signs such as tingling or itching in the mouth, hives, swelling of lips, face, or tongue, nasal congestion, breathing problems, nausea, dizziness, etc. The symptoms can be mild or severe and can start within a few minutes to hours after eating the causative food.
