Hi doctor,
I am 31 years old, weight 152 lbs and height 5 feet 7 inches. I recently started a gym, and this is the first time that I have ever done gym. My instructor made me do bicep curls and hammer. Post that, I did not feel any pain. But after approximately 24 hours, I felt pain in my biceps. My biceps are so strained that I find it hard to straighten my hands. Pain is in the biceps only. But, I am finding it difficult to do simple activities like wearing a shirt or washing my face. Whenever I try to bend or stretch my hands, I feel a lot of pressure on my biceps. I have been feeling this way for 24 hours post workout till now. I did a workout last week. Kindly suggest a remedy. Do I need to see a doctor or is it one of the side effects of workout?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Do not worry about your current complaint as it seems to be normal muscle soreness. Absolutely nothing to worry. I suggest you do a lot of icing over both biceps, gentle stretching to be done for both biceps, gentle massage over the biceps muscles. If you have any anti-inflammatory medication, you can have them as per earlier prescription for two days. Have a warm water shower before you go to sleep. Next time when you hit the gym, I suggest you to kindly do proper warm up and cool down to avoid such issues in future.
