Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I wanted to lose weight, so I started tracking my calories and nutrition, and I realized I had not regularly reached 1200 calories in a very long time. So how do I lose weight if I am already in a deficit and not losing?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It honestly depends upon your body’s metabolism. You may start working out to lose weight by eating over 1250 kilocalories in a day, light-medium exercising for 45 minutes in the morning for five days a week. If you want to put on weight, the easiest way is to make heavy-calorie protein shakes and reduce carbohydrates. Things like natural protein, a natural antioxidant, multivitamins, spirulina, omega-3, baked green vegetables, peanut butter, etc., will have to become your best friends for healthy living.

For your information, at your age and height, the normal weight should be 59.5 kgs. Basal metabolic rate (BMR = 1250 KCal/day). The total daily energy requirement is 1500 KCal/day if you are sedentary. You may eat five to six smaller meals during the day rather than two or three large meals to gain some weight.

Wish you good health.
