Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have some questions regarding “pH.” Can people absorb supplements optimally with an acidic lifestyle diet? Is balancing the pH of food intake important, and does it prevent certain diseases? Some doctors are advocating that you cannot absorb nutrients under acidic conditions. However, it is important to take any supplements with an alkaline meal (for example, 70 % alkaline foods along with only about 30 % acidifying foods) so that your body will absorb them. Where is the quantitative data to support this claim?

I would appreciate it if you could reply.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Acid production in the stomach is a natural breakdown process of certain nutrients. When we talk about acidic foods, it is not about absorption of the nutrients but their acid-producing properties after they are absorbed and metabolized. If the by-product of the breakdown of food is acidic, they will rot in the intestine, and the acid produced makes the blood acidic, which can lead to many diseases over the long run. Therefore, take more significant portions of an alkaline diet and less acidic or processed foods.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
