Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

One of my family members has a sore on the lower shin. It has not healed due to leg edema and continues to weep. It was dry for a week. The nurse was happy with its healing and granulation. But last night, it wept quite a bit with no pain, redness, or bleeding. It was just a clear liquid. We have used wound dressing, and she elevates her leg as well. But her leg has deflated in the last 24 hours like a balloon, and the seepage has slowed. Are there any products to heal? Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

You must understand that the shin is the part of our body with less muscle. The bone is covered with just skin. So, the healing takes time when compared to other parts where the muscle is there. Another factor is edema that tries to leak out through the possible opening in the body. Wound dressings are adequate in this condition. Elevation of the leg and preventing edema are the only ways to avoid oozing and promote closure. Please continue the dressing and try not to get an infection and edema. Automatically wound will heal.

Thank you and take care.
