Hi doctor,
I was suddenly down with loose motions (two watery motions) and the next day I had a vomit. Immediately, I consulted my allopathy doctor, and he diagnosed it as either viral gastritis or severe hyperacidity. He put me on the antibiotic for five days. There was no motion or vomit after that, but there was some discomfort in the stomach especially after eating. Then, I started taking Atisarahara vati two tablets with buttermilk three times a day for about four to five days and then reduced to two times a day before food. I had loose motions around once or twice since starting the medicine. The motion was not loose, but it was with gas, discomfort, etc.
Yesterday, I got Deva Vati tablets. I took over all three tablets till now with lukewarm water. I find relief and hope this settles my stomach problem. My question is should I take Atisarahara vati also with Deva vati or only Deva vati? Do you recommend any other with Deva Vati?
I am 62 years old and in relatively good health. I do not take outside food, spicy, oily, etc. Somehow, I was erratic in the timing of the meal. But, now I have set a regular time for food.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Your current issue is gastritis and not diarrhea. Atisarahara vati is used to control diarrhea. Thus, there is no need to continue this tablet. Deva vati is the best for people who are having gastritis or diarrhea along with liver disease. If your liver is normal, then you should not take this drug for a long period of more than three months. This drug will certainly control your current symptoms. Since you are not taking artificial foods, your gastritis might be due to irregular diet habits and mental stress. You can take the following simple herbal remedies.
Vilwadi lehyam (Vilwamula, Guda, Honey, Ginger) 1 spoon before breakfast and before dinner on an empty stomach. This drug can be continued for many months as long as you want. But within one month, you will be all right, and you can stop this drug. If you do not get it, then buy Mridwikadi lehyam (Draksha, Pippali, Honey) or Drakshadi lehyam (Draksha, Pippali/Kana, Yasthimadhu). Use it as mentioned above. I also suggest Anantamul syrup (Nannari extract, sugar, water). Take one teaspoon and mix with half a glass of water. Consume it on an empty stomach thrice daily, and this is the best for your trouble.
Eat dry grapes more as it heals your gastritis and removes constipation. Tender coconut water, cucumber, and pumpkin gourd are cooling foods and heal your gastritis. While cooking add turmeric, cumin, and coriander powder or leaves. They can take care of your stomach. You may practice yoga and meditation. Stop or reduce potato, roti prepared with oil and other oil foods.
