Ankle Edema

Swelling of the ankles caused due to build-up of fluid in the ankle is termed ankle edema. Standing in the same position for a long time, increased intake of salt, overweight, pregnancy, side effects of certain medications, congestive heart failure, trauma, etc., are the reasons for swelling of the ankle.
