Hello, I have this patient of 6 months of age with increasing umbilical hernia since 4 months old. The baby has a strong character and cries a lot. No pain when massaging the hernia. It enters inside when I massage, but it keeps growing. What do you suggest next as we are experiencing this virus quarantine and pandemic? Should I send the case to a Surgeon or can be managed at home? If yes, then what are the possible remedies at home? Thank you.
Hello dr.my experience with paediatric umbilical hernia ,is to wait for 12 to 24 months when it settles by itself and does not need any intervention unless there are symptoms or signs of omphalitis which requires treatment or worst scenario obstruction which i feel is a rarity but need to monitor for any such signs.
