When the spinal canal is too small for the spinal cord and nerve roots, it is called cervical stenosis. This can cause damage to the spinal cord (myelopathy), decompress the nerve as they exit the canal (radiculopathy), or can damage both the spinal cord and the nerve roots (myeloradiculopathy). The symptoms include neck pain, arm pain, tingling, or numbness in the neck, arm, or back. As the condition progresses, there is a loss of coordination in hands.
