Gestalt is an experimental and humanistic form of psychotherapy, which was developed by Fritz Perls, Laura Perls, and Paul Goodman in the 1940s. It was designed with the aim of it replacing the conventional psychoanalysis. This theory gives importance to the way we place emphasis and understand our world and our experiences. The patients are encouraged to talk about their emotions and experiences without the fear of being judged. Rather than changing the person’s thinking, the patients are made to accept how things are right now. This therapy was used to treat conditions like depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress syndrome, etc.
