The novel coronavirus that results in COVID-19 belongs to the group of viruses called Coronaviruses (CoV). This group can cause the common cold to severe respiratory diseases such as SARS and MERS. This new strain of coronavirus was first discovered in 2019. Humans that get infected with this virus have fever, dry cough, shortness of breath, and breathing problems. It has been found to spread through respiratory droplets, that is if anyone near you coughs or sneezes, the virus in these droplets can enter your body through the mouth and nose. As it is a new strain of coronavirus, there are no vaccines or medications available as of now to treat or prevent this disease. The best way to avoid getting infected is by regularly washing your hands, covering your nose and mouth while sneezing and coughing, and not going close to people who are visibly sick.
