Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is a plastic surgery done to correct deformities and defects of the eyelids. It is also used to make the eye region of the face more aesthetically pleasing. It is performed on the upper lids, lower lids, or both the eyelids. It treats loose and sagging skin in the lids, fat deposits, undereye bags, and fine wrinkles. During this surgery, the surgeon makes incisions along the folds of the eyelids above the eyelashes and cuts away excess fat and skin. The incision is then closed by placing fine stitches. Some of the complications of this surgery are dry eyes, infection, numbness, swelling of the eyelids, scarring, and blurred vision.
