Type 1 diabetes is a rare and autoimmune disease where the body is not able to produce enough insulin to control blood glucose levels. As a result, blood glucose levels are high and poorly managed. Insulin is a hormone that helps with the absorption and use of glucose. This type of diabetes cannot be prevented, as the body’s immune system attacks the cells in the pancreas, which results in reduced or no production of insulin. The common symptoms are increased thirst, frequent urination, blurred vision, increased hunger, tiredness, fatigue, and unintentional weight loss. Type 1 diabetes is treated with Insulin injections, which need to be taken several times a day.
