About "Diabetes"
Diabetes is a condition where the blood sugar level is high, as the body’s ability to process blood glucose is impaired. There are three types of diabetes:
- Type I diabetes – Also called juvenile diabetes, occurs when there is no production of insulin.
- Type II diabetes – Here, the body produces insulin, but the cells in the body does not respond properly to regulate the blood glucose.
- Gestational diabetes – Occurs during pregnancy when the body becomes less sensitive to insulin.
The symptoms of diabetes are increased thirst, frequent urination, excessive hunger, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, and, irritability. If left untreated, it can cause cardiovascular diseases, kidney damage, eye problems, nerve damage, and skin diseases.
