Tinea versicolor is a fungal skin infection, which results in lighter or darker patches on the trunk and shoulders due to yeast overgrowth. It is commonly seen in teens and younger adults. It is not contagious nor painful. It might cause slight itching and scaling. The overgrowth of this fungus is triggered by hot and humid climate, oily skin, hormonal changes, and weak immunity. Topical Ketoconazole, Fluconazole, or Itraconazole is used in its treatment.
